Recovery, especially from sexual addiction, will probably be the hardest undertaking of your life. The sex addict in his acting out days, has clocked in hundreds and sometimes thousands of hours repetitively sexually conditioning himself in a sexually addictive manner. Many sex addicts rely heavily upon their sexual acting out as a primary coping mechanism during adolescence throughout adulthood until they begin their recovery. Recovery is hard work and more importantly it is consistent work. Remember what got you into your addiction was consistent work (toward the addiction) so it only makes sense that consistent work is going to be a big part of recovery and reconditioning yourself into a life of sobriety. In light of this, you are going to need to set aside time daily to do the many exercises you will be exposed to from the 101 Exercises Workbook. These exercises have been proven to work but only if you take the time to do them. This is consistent with the fact tha t in most areas of life, what you put in to something, is also what you will get out. So, whether you need to get a calendar or just sit down and have a talk with yourself or your partner, try to come up with at least 15-30 minutes daily to work on your recovery from sexual addiction.
