Behavioral Health Specialists, Inc., (BHS) has been providing quality professional care for over 20 years. Formerly Monroe Mental Health Center, the agency began operating as a private, non-profit organization in November of 1992. Prior to this, it had been owned by Region 4 Mental Health and Substance Abuse Service District, which developed as a result of the Nebraska Community Mental Health Center Act of 1974.

BHS currently provides an array of services throughout the Region 4 Behavioral Health Service area and in 65% of the Health & Human Services Northern Service Area. Our agency’s main office is centrally located in Norfolk. We operate two short-term residential treatment programs: Seekers of Serenity in Columbus, Nebraska and Sunrise Place in Norfolk, Nebraska. We have foster homes, respite care homes, family support services and community support services that extend throughout northeast Nebraska.

Friday, September 14, 2007 Drugs are addictive because of the feelings they give you, because of the chemicals that build in your system, because the tollerance you build, because you just want that high.

I have much persinal expierance with drug addiction, cocaine to be exact.

Addiction is an illness in the mind, because when you are addicted, getting high is all that you can think of, even if you already are high, its chemical brainwash, substance hypnotisim, and its really difficult to break, and going at it alone is the worst feeling in the world.

Drugs dont hook you because you like them that much, you will say its your choice all you want but it really isnt, because you cant help yourself, you cant stop the sick feeling inside you when you only want another line but cant have it.

Have you ever been in a position where you need something imperative to your life, such as water, food, or sleep, but you just cant get it? Well not having a fix feels like that, so next time you find out that someone is addicted, dont think down on them, try and help them, cause speaking through persinal expeirance, they do, deep down inside, want and need that help, the addiction just blocks them from acknowledging that....
