Who We Are:

SODAT of New Jersey, Inc is a non-profit drug/alcohol outpatient multifaceted agency head-quartered in Woodbury, Gloucester County New Jersey. Prevention, Intervention and Treatment services are provided for adults, adolescents and children of substance abusers in Burlington, Camden, Cumberland, Gloucester and Salem counties.

SODAT provides outpatient addictions counseling, student assistance programs, employee assistance programs, comprehensive primary and secondary prevention programs, community education, parenting skills training, family services programs, women's and men's programs, adolescent programs, and children's support groups.

Services to Overcome Drug Abuse Among Teenagers of New Jersey, Inc. (SODAT, Inc) was established in Gloucester County in 1969 as a free-standing, non-profit agency staffed by professional substance abuse counselors. SODAT has been in operation for over thirty years and has struggled through many crises in which other programs have folded under such pressure. SODAT initially was established to treat youths, however we now treat people of all ages for drug and alcohol abuse. SODAT operates under the auspices of the New Jersey Department of Human Services, Division of Addiction Services. We are proud to say that we are a United Way Member Agency in Burlington, Gloucester and Salem Counties. SODAT has been honored to receive two national awards to our innovative substance abuse prevention programs; the United States Department of Education Award for Excellence and the United States Secretary of State Award for Outstanding Program.

SODAT extended its services into Salem County in 1978, Burlington County in 1985, Camden County in 1990 and Cumberland County in 1995. SODAT's expansion into these counties was based on fulfilling an unmet substance abuse treatment and prevention need. SODAT provides a variety of substance abuse primary prevention and treatment services which include outpatient and intensive outpatient treatment and evaluations, student assistance, employee assistance, prevention programs, adult and juvenile criminal justice programs, children of substance abusers programs, school based interventions, parenting effectiveness education and more.

SODAT is a program that continuously evaluates the effectiveness of itself by conducting client program evaluations and referral questionnaires. This feedback is used to improve upon SODAT's therapeutic approach.

SODAT has become a leader and resource center for community treatment and a primary prevention program, in an effort to reduce and/or prevent drug and alcohol abuse among young people.

Cost Card

Dr. Doug Weiss - 10/21/2007

This realization can truly be painful and you can have very sad feelings accompanying the realization.

Although at the moment you feel this pain and discomfort, there will also be days ahead when your addiction will attempt to have you forget it. If your addiction can get you to forget this pain and discomfort, it will become easier to talk you into "another ride" on the sexual addiction train. It is in the pain and discomfort of the reality of what your addiction has cost you that you may feel committed "not to do that again!" In the hopes of strengthening your recovery and giving you one more tool to assist in your recovery, you can capture this moment of pain in order to rescue yourself in the future days when your sex addiction wants you to join in again to destroy you.

Use the back of a business card that is blank and write at the top of it the word "COST" along with what your addiction has cost you and what it could cost you five years from now. Write yourself some notes that only you would understand and place this in your billfold and when you start to feel the addiction try to talk you into acting out, pull out your card and talk back. Having the facts puts truth on your side and you may escape a...
