Reading Recovery Material

Dr. Doug Weiss - 1/25/2008

Reading recovery material that is specifically related to sexual addiction is important. There currently are many books on the market addressing sexual addiction. It is very important to read some recovery material every day.

Reading recovery material is most helpful when done in the morning. Addicts need to be reminded of what may be in store for them that day. Sometimes the recovery information that you read about are the very tools that can get you out of a tough situation, such as a fantasy. Reading recovery material can give you the strength to fight for your recovery that day. It is important that you involve your mind in your recovery. It alone is not going to save you, but it may get you to behave so that you can maintain your abstinent behaviors and not pass your bottom line.

A list of reading materials is provided in an exercise you will be reading about later. By now you probably get the feeling that your morning is going to change. This can take only five to fifteen minutes, but it will make a dramatic change in your day. You are worth getting the recovery you need so that you can restore yourself, your family and your friends. You are going to learn a lot, not only about yourself, but also about recovery in general so that you can get a picture of hope to integrate into a life-style of sobriety.
